Parties and Politics in the Early Republic: 1789-1815
Published in Paperback by Harlan Davidson (June, 1967)
Average review score:

Fills a nice nicheThose interested in American political history and the founding of our constitutional government will find this book extremely helpful. Borden fills a unique niche in American history and the history of political parties by describing how American political parties developed in the early republic. While most knowledgeable people are aware that the founding fathers abhorred political parties as institutionalized factions that were destructive to democratic principles, Borden gracefully describes how the founding fathers nonetheless became drawn to parties as a means of gaining control. Indeed, without the founding of the Democratic-Republican Party the Alien and Sedition Acts may never have been repealed and our government may look very different. The impact of foreign policy (pro-British Federalists and pro-French Democratic-Republicans) is also discussed at length. A short read and a valuable resource, I recommend this book heartily.

Hippy VV mbr VVAW E-6 from PA dumps cold H2O on YKW!Passing Time's time pasting took only one night! In that time W. D. Ehrhart flashed me back to '70, 68, 69, 71, and the nitexmasarclights of '72, Ho ho ho chi minhnity returns with both laughter and extreme anger! Ah! The ying and yang of it to me who calls Bill and old old dear friend whom I had never availed myself to his insight and wit like I did last night with Passing Time! Five stars *****, but never too soon to be a new motion picture. Of an old e-6 hippy from Perkasie, Pa, who graduated from Swarthmore College and worked at sea like all "Old Salt" gyrenes who went a few places, saw a few things and still live to tell about it in all speldid details from the heart. Perspicatious (if that can be now a new adjective!) jvb

Passport to Danger
Published in Paperback by Aladdin Library (01 June, 2003)
Average review score:

Exciting Hardy Boys Action! The Hardy Boys are in Paris attending an amateur soccer tournament which is beset by protesters.
Someone is trying to sabotage the match and Frank and Joe quickly get involved.
The trail leads them to a secret passage in the Louvre, an ancient castle and the Paris Catacombs!
Along the way their father, Fenton, gets kidnapped and the Boys are hot on his trail also!
The action in this story is non-stop and, unlike some other recent Hardy Boys stories, extremely plausible and will keep you on the edge of your seat right up to the surprising finale!
This is one of the best Hardy Boys stories in quite a while.

Past and Present Danger
Published in Paperback by Aladdin Library (27 February, 2001)
Average review score:

Tension Tension Tension...This book was very tense. It was well written and had a good plot. Aunt Gertrude's old friend, Clayton Silvers, turns up at Bayport. He is a freelance writer from Washington, D.C.. He says that he has come here on vacation for a while but the Hardy's think that he is up to something. Even Aunt Gertrude gets into the act. The Hardy's even encounter a heart-stopping cliffside crash. I recommend this book to everyone out there, even the ones who aren't Hardy Boys fans like me. This book is something you can read during your break. Very Recommendable!!!

Philosophy at 33 1/3 Rpm: Themes of Classic Rock Music
Published in Hardcover by Open Court Publishing Company (December, 1993)
Average review score:

It's not only rock'n'rollHarris uses excerpts from songs and historical sketches of the classic rock era to illustrate the philosophical significance of what has been condemned as just noise made to annoy parents. Obviously music that moved so many at a pivotal point in our nation's history has many philosophical underpinnings, and Harris points out themes and relates them to the work of many philosophers, including (big surprise!) Nietzsche. It's an entertaining read and made me wish for a class using this as a text.

A Pictorial History of Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Published in Hardcover by Jerome Goldstein Press (December, 1996)
Average review score:

A perfect history lesson covering a very famous life. This history of the life of F. D. Roosevelt is excellent if only because it is like having a video of the life without having to run it through your VCR. If you are a student of history or of the time in history, this volume is perfect and should be read for its authenticity and historical content.
